Turbo upgrade

Postby Powertruck666 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 3:03 pm

If anyone is interested i have 2 custom built Isuzu 4jg2 turbo's which have been upgraded with the more efficient 10 blade turbine and 42mm compressor wheel. We machine the stock turbine housing out to take the larger turbine wheel and modify a subaru compressor cover to suit.
There are a couple of mods needed to the air intake and compressor outlet depending on your setup. I run this same setup on my own 3.1 and have played around with alot of combinations over the years and this is by far the best combination for low down torque but still be able to maintain good top end without falling over like the stock turbo. My current setup runs 13psi and holds a flat boost curve right out to redline without falling over pyro temps won't exceed 1100 deg F under full load. This is due to the larger more efficent turbine it dosent choke like the stock wheel which causes high backpressure and high EGT's.
If anyone is interested let me know and i will try load some pics up.

Hey Hamish no its for the 3.1 engine it could be used on a 2.8 but i haven't done any testing on the 4jb1 with this combination only on the 4jg2. Will try and load some pics up in the next few days.
The turbo bolts up to the stock manifold utalises the same exhaust outlet as factory, all waterlines and oil lines remain stock the only modification that needs to be made is the compressor outlet and intake pipe. Depending if you have aircon will determine how you run the pipe back into the airbox. Will try post some pics of my setup so you can see how i have done it.
Price of the turbo will be $1200+gst this is fully rebuilt ready to bolt on
