new alumanum radiator

Postby wbski007 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 6:03 am

Was on ebay the other day and spotted this radiator and couldn't pass up the deal, my old one is just a one core and this is a two core so its got twice the cooling power, its the same size as mine only its for a Acura integra, but who cares, everything is identacle to mine except the upper hose is on the left and mine is on the right, easy fix, looks like I can turn my upper hose housing 180 and bingo, by the way they thru in the two fans for free, what a deal, I think I struck a home run with this one, its going rite in tomorrow.

nice score, I have been meaning to ask if the running of electric fans makes any difference, having the two would help with towing i guess

nice one mate, u may find u need a shroud with the fans being a 2 core radiator, thay cool good but airflow is very important, thats wat i found with mine anyway.

Isn't much room for a shroud, I guess I'd have to build one, I'm going to try it out with just the two fans for now, the old radiator was doing a good job but it was getting a bit on the hot side pulling long hills with my camper, but never over heated. My old rad is single core and one fan, so I think I should be in pretty good shape with the new one with two fans and no shroud!

Ok got the new radiator in and it fit like a glove, turning the thermostat housing 180 worked like a charm, only had to cut 3 inchs off upper hose. New radiator holds 1/2 gallon more than old rad, also moved the oil filter a bit so the hoses don't hang down like before, much better.

Just took it for a test run into town and checked for leaks, and had none, the real test is when I pull the caravan, must wait for that awhile tho, I'm still waiting for the new coupler I ordered a month ago from down under, called them because I haven't recieved it yet and they sent it by seamail so it might take a few months to get here, I already cut my old coupler off so I just have to wait it out.

Nice Buy there Wayne, similar to what I have on My Frontera. Have auto transmission cooler built into radiator also.
