Hey Guys.
I used this download to do my JX1 to JB1 conversion.
First up its good basic info and many thanks to Jackdriver for sharing it.
How ever ,there are a few things I did as per the down load that I wouldnt do if I were doin it again.
1.Forget the M16 bolts, taps, drill bits and drilling of the two top and two bottom holes in the bell housing.the existing bolts are fine.just watch the length when you reassemble.
2.Use M12 countersunk hex drive head bolts to secure the metal gasket and the alloy JB1 spacer plate to the engine. BEFORE YOU DO THIS,when you countersink go easy, not too deep or you'll weaken the spacer. You'll need to make the gasket from sheet metal in the shape of the JX1 spacer cause there's a gap tween the engine and the bell housing at the bottom and a space on the turbo side.If you dont sort it you'll end up with a clutch full of water at the first wet day!!.DONT USE ANYTHING GREATER THAN 2MM THICKNESS,cause if you do you wont get clearance on a dual mass flywheel.
3.It'd be an engineering nightmare to fit the JX1 air con unit to this engine,it'll cause headaches with the turbo air intake and alignment of pulleys and belts.Forget the idea.
4.A JB1 is as tight as the old JX1.Get the vehicle up as high as safely possible, use a hoist and engine crane if you can get access to them.
5.The JX1 oil pressure sender is too fat to go straight in the JB1 location without an extension and then its a tight fit beside the engine mount.
6.I wouldn't touch the wiring as per the download, unless you know what your doing it'll create problem if you have to get an auto electrician in.
7.There's no need to relocate the feul filter and power steering reservoir brackets.there's plenty of room.
8.My Jackaroo power steering hose plumbed up to the JB1 power steering unit fine,I'd suggest you check it before you do as I did and buy the one of the donor vehicle. You may not need it.
I hope this helps,
cheers
