Unplugged Wire mystery

Postby IsuzuCamper » Thu Mar 28, 2019 11:10 am

I found an unplugged connection that is of some concern.

While looking a that connection I found another one that is on the picture. I appear to go to a temp sensor on the block. I hooked it back up. Any one know how that could effect any functions. Also found a vacuum hose that as not attached at the back of the injection pump. Also looking for any changes that might make. The main question is the 2 prong connection that is not attached and deos it need to be. Not a big fan of open connections.

Cheers

Patrick

They make looms for multiple applications and these often contain unused wires. The loom in your camper might also fit the basic van, a ute plus it may cover more than one engine. If it works well and there is nothing to plug it into it isnt required. Only hose at the bak of the injector pump I can think of is the boost sense but it would be down on power if that was off. Other option would be the hoses to the egr valves I think you need them over there

Thanks Geeves. I couldn't find a match for it so I figured it could be an extra wire. The boost vacuum must be the one. How about the temp sensor on the block. That was also not hooked up. What would that cause if anything?

Is the hose you are talking about a VACUUM hose or a BOOST hose?

Boost hose runs a boost signal from somewhere between the turbos compressor and the intake manifold down to the Boost Compensator on your Injector Pump.

Vacuum hose to the Injector Pump might be for the Fast Idle control (triggered by your Air Conditioning).

Re the two pronged wire. Does it have any power or earth signal?

The sensor you plugged the single wire back on looks like a low oil pressure switch to operate the oil light on the dash.

. when it was unplugged you may not have noticed the oil light not coming on at key on and off after engine start.

The double wire may be for an oil pressure gauge not used as per geeves.

If you must Clarify I'd do it by looking at the colours and confirming with your vehicles wiring diagram.
