Flywheel Balancing?

Postby wgripp » Fri Aug 07, 2020 6:57 pm

I'm installing a 3.1 flywheel and clutch setup into my 2.8. I dropped the flywheel and clutch off at the machine shop today.

First, they were annoyed that I dropped off the clutch in addition to the flywheel. I had to convince them to balance both. (I'm not convinced they'll actually do anything to the clutch.)

Second, they asked me what kind of balance I wanted. Is neutral the right answer?

Third, they asked me if the flywheel is externally or internally balanced. I didn't know. What's the right answer?

Last, is there any other information I should provide to the machine shop or work I should ask them to do?

Thanks!
Bill

Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
