EGR block off plates

Postby WayneB » Sat Feb 20, 2010 12:29 am

Was in the old speed shop yesterday getting a braded stainless steal oil pressure line for my 2.5 and just happened to see a fuel pump block off plate for a big block Chevy engine,454,396, ect. and thought the spacing of the two bolt holes in it looked the same as the ones on the two EGR ports on the intake of my 2.5, so I took one outside and tryed it and low and behold it fits perfect, cost $5.99 each, 1/4 in steel and their chrome to boot, now you know you can buy a pair of them to block off those EGR ports and its going to look great.HOORAY, what a deal. oh and by the way its me wbski007, been having trouble with my username and password.

2.8 and 2.5 are the same Bonkers but I don't have a part # for ya, as I didn't buy the plates that day, any speed shop should carry fuel pump block off plates for big block Chevys, or go on line I'm sure you can find them, if not let me know and I'll getum for ya and mail um to ya.

I just went on line littlebudda and typed in fuel pump block off plates and about a dozen places popped up to get them, even for big block Chevys, and thats the one you want, its easy, their $5.95 each, you have big block Chevys there in Australia, there should be no problem getting them from your local speed shop

Look nice. Only issue I see is that the decorative machining is too close to the bolt holes. This could cause the bolts to come loose. He should of left a small flange there

not nessecsarily.
the problem is that the mating surface for the bolt isnt flat and may wear unevenly as the whole lot heats and cools. This will loosen the bolt without the bolt turning.
Even if they come loose all that happens is noise

Sounds good, mine are capped off by the previous owner with a piece of pipe that has been squashed and welded shut. Does the job but is taking up space I need for second fuel filter (water trap) so plates would be the go.

I really don't see any problem with them as long as the mating surface is flat, use a little high temp silicone to the mating surface and you sould be good to go

I used another option for blanking these holes, a single plate.
