The black cover shown on the picture is plastic. But from what I read on this forum, the belt-type cover is supposed to be ribbed. Mine is obviously not.
I seems the plastic cover covers an aluminium cover, but I'm not sure about that.
What about the oil filter? I that an indication of the engine type too? I'll have to look that up.
That filter is the same as ryco Z178A used on the 4JB1 gear drive motor here in Australia

I am 99.99% sure it's a gear drive motor. Some gear drive motors have 2 covers plastic outer alloy inner 10 & 12 in the picture

99.99% that's pretty sure! And happy with that as it makes me feel more secure about the chance of a snapping cam belt.
The situation might be similar as shown in the pictures. (plastic cover on top of the aluminium timing gear cover) But it does look different from both drawings; belt as well as gear drive . I will give it another close examination and hope to be able to draw a final conclusion. Will let you know.
