Intermittent diesel pump leak

Postby redsox » Sun Oct 03, 2021 4:58 pm

Hi, I have a 1994 MU 3.1 (4JG2) with an intermittent fuel leak that appears to be at the rear of the pump. It is not severe and more of a weep but enough that drips of fuel are hanging off the injector lines (when it's leaking) and there is now a patch of diesel on the driveway.
Engine runs and idles ok and have checked all tube fitting nuts are tight, nothing obvious and not sure where else to look.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Cheers.

There is a seal on the back of the pump. It can be changed in situ but few mechanics will do it. If there was any running issues consider a pump rebuild
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
