Gearbox oil.

Postby Isuzumu4x4 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:08 pm

I recently put a new gearbox in my mu, but i overfilled the oil in gearbox so it overflowed. I cant tell weather it all came out, or just excess.

Is there anyway to tell if there is any in the gearbox easily?

there should be a plug about half way up on the side of the gear box, unscrew it and if there's lube coming out its full, let it drain untill nothing more comes out and put the plug back in and you should be good to go

4 plugs on the gearbox assembly. 2 drains on the bottom of the gearbox and transfer case. 2 fill plugs on the right hand side of both. As wbski says you fill till it overflows then put the bung back. The gearbox will tell you if it has no oil (loudly)
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
