oil pressure

oil pressure

i have a 1995 bighorn 3.1 4jg2i an have just noticed that when revs are at 3500 or above the oil pressure gauge drops rite down and will sit a 0 with revs at 4000rpm, never had this happen before. anyone know what it could be? cheers

I had a similar problem with the pressure gauge on my old petrol engined rodeo - it was a loose connector where the wire hooks on to the sender on the motor. It was only being held on by the plastic cap. Took it off and pryed the connector out of its cap, crimped the connector a bit with pliers so it was a tight fit on the sender and then put the whole lot back together.

Mine also had the entertaining habit of dropping back to zero whenever you backed off the throttle.

Might be a guage problem but do not run it till this is verified. If you have 0psi at 4000rpm engine life is measured in milliseconds not seconds
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

any1 no were the sender thingy is for the oil pressure is on these engines?

just behind the engine mount inlet side

Well i have the opposit as soon as my car starts it shoots up to around 8....and stays there all the time. is this normal? i have a 1992 MU with a 2.8l turbo diesel...i just serviced it today and its still the same..

Your oil sender unit need replacing

Mate gave me 20L diesel
Turned out to be 20L kerosine
Dam it went fast (For a while)

Go with a machanical gauge and save yourself alot of grief

1949 Dodge 2 1/2 ton pumper fire truck, 15,000 original miles, with a 1991 Cummins 5.9 diesel, turned up fuel, 5 speed trans, two speed rear, also added P/S, P/B.
