fuel additives

Postby wbski007 » Sat Nov 07, 2009 4:19 am

Geeves this is probably one for you, what would be good to add to your fuel to give it more lubricity besides that expencive stuff you can buy at auto parts, I herd that you could use transmission fluid, but there's pros and cons to that.

Hi Wayne. Over here in the land of the long white cloud, Woolly sheep and five session in one day??????.
I don't know who comes up with these saying (They should be shoot).
Anyway over here in kiwi land they have removed the sulphur from the diesel witch helped lub the injector pump and keeped the rubber O rings soft so a good freind who works in a oil refinery told me to add 100ml of 2stroke oil to every tank full. Have had no problems in the last 8 years.

Good luck
Chris

Thanks a bunch Chris, same thing over here, Ford 6.9 and 7.3's pumps were locking up like crazy, when they first started removing the sulpher, I herd about the 2 cycle oil before but forgot about it, good going. My son called me one time from a gas station, all nervice, say he filled his Dodge Cummins 5.9 with kerosine and was afraid to drive it, I told him to put a few quarts oil 30W in and it would OK
cheers Wayne

I have been using the Morleys Diesel additive with is basicly the same stuff as the Lucas upper cylinder additive, and have noticed i get better Kms from a tank and it is running better, Truck doesnt smoke anyway but its good stuff.

Also it raises the Cetane lvl by 5pts.
Cheers,
Andrew

I can tell you using two stroke can't hurt. I remember now reading an artical back in the late 80's when they started taking the sulfur out of diesel, to mix two stroke in your fuel to stop your IP pump from lockng up, alot of early ford and chevy IP pumps bit the dust for lack of lubrication, of course the newer pumps are made to run OK on the diesel we have today, but I'm going with a little two stroke with fill ups anyway, like I say it can't hurt.

powerup is not one of those general additives you can buy off the shelf. its awsome stuff- engine oil additive works buy forming a wear reducing high strength film wich can withstand pressure of 200,000psi. it provides the critical parts of the engine-ring zone, cam lobes, turbo etc with boundary lubrication far exceeding that of conventional oils

Ive seen that machine as well and it is amazing for the pressure it can withstand but that pressure is irelevent in an engine. Where in an engine do you get 10000psi plus
