Needle flickering for diesels fitted with boost gauges that read vacuum as well as boost is normal.

There are boost gauges with only boost reading, ie. 0-35psi, but they are harder to find and usually more expensive.

Factory boost should be around 8-10psi from around 2000rpm all the way up...

Dyno & tune sounds good, check for leaks & make sure wastegate is operating freely.

Boost controllers (air-bleed style) are quite cheap and easy to install

my factory boost was 9lbs but I adjusted my waste gate so now I get 14 lbs of boost, which made a big differance ln power, but also had to turn up fuel, to match boost. my boost needle does not move at all at idle.

Cheers Wayne

The T piece supplied with some boost guages has a restriction in the line to the guage. This helps a lot with flicker but in my case knocked a couple of pounds off the peak reading

just put the t piece in and it stopd the flikering, an boosts 11 to 12 psi standard. is it safe to wind it up to 15? does the efi models automaticly adjust the fuel if you turn up the boost or do i have to take it to get dyno tuned???????

14 to 15 is ok. The boost compensator in the pump will give more fuel so no need to adjust although minor gains can still be found

just installed manual boost controller. when testing it out it would spike to about 19PSI then drop back down to around 15PSI. it doesn't hold 15PSI, it jumps between 12PSI and 15PSI while cruising. is it a faulty boost controler?

Try it at full throttle on a hill. At 100kph on the flat my boost guage reads about 6 but put the foot down and it will hold 14. The turbo only works as hard as it needs to

Normal to spike a little with a bleed-off boost controller. By a little I mean 1-2psi.

When I'm on the road and doing say 60MPH pulling my caravan, my boost gauge reads 14lbs steady, would that be normal?? This is the first vehicle I've owned with a boost gauge and I really don't know what it should read while towing.

With a load on the diesel engine, turbo should produce it's max (determined by wastegate), 14psi sounds good Wayne

When I put a boost gauge in I put it in a connection in the manifold. At idle it went mad. I ended up T'ing it into the line between the turbo and the wastegate actuator and got steady readings.
