You cannot replace the seals in the steering box without dissaembling the box...ie the sector shaft has to be removed to get the sector shaft pressure seal out. Just replacing the lower dust/scraper seal is pointless. This is definately not easy with the box still on the vehicle.
As to the clutch....Ive done too many on these and it doesnt get easier.
1st...gearbox out is waaaaaaaaaay easier than engine out.
2nd plan to do you rear main oil seal if there is any oil present in the bell housing.
3rd make sure you machine the flywheel while its out.
4th To get the three top bellhousing bolts, support the trans on jack, remove rear crossmember and lower slightly and with two large extentions on ratchet, one person under the vehicle and one in the cab (or just one under) the top person can guide the ratchet onto the bolts or you feel the grooves in the transmission and find the bolts from underneath.
5th Hope like hell you have standard exhaust or the fitter was considerate enough to provide a flanges so you can drop the section of pipe that crosses the back of the trans.
6th on fitting be carefull of the dowels and never use the bolts to pull the transmission up to the housing...if it doesnt got straight away..then just keep changing the height of the engine and the trans. It may go first time it may take lots of changes to get the alignment right...just kepp playing and accept...sometimes it just doesnt go at first...have a break and then try again and it will just click up.
Goodluck...any Qs PM me.
