made considerable progress on this front. there are 2 types of squirter/piston cooling/oil jet pipework, 5 part and 1 part. 5 part is in most drawings and consists of 4 small blocks with the jets and 1 piece of distributing pipework. 1 part is all in and appears to be a post 97 thing. I have found they are interchangeable. As to getting at them, it was easier to drop the bum off it than pull the whole engine. All sump bolts are accessible from the bottom. You have to remove the cross member (4 bolts), drop the diff (4 bolts) and take out the steering transverse idler (4 ball joints) easy when you've put anti-seize on the tapers. If needed, you can take the filter off the bottom of the oil pump, just loosen the 2 bolts and it slides out.
