2.8 turbo on a 3.1 motor

Postby mudgrip4 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:58 pm

This is a common enough idea but has anyone actually done this mod? What was the power and torque curve like with the 2.8 turbo fitted onto a 3.1?

Mine would spin the wheels on bitumen at take off. Still drove beautifully over all the rev range but I think over 120ish it was losing puff.

Very hard on clutches having sooooo much torque off idle.

Love it though!

Matt.

Interesting - sounds like fun.

The way to get an extra 500rpm usable top end is to advance the pump timing.
