Yep, last photo is the one. Remove top bolt then remove larger bolt at bottom, then CAREFULLY prise switch off as the back is plastic with contacts
inside. Dissasemble clean and regrease.

I've just done mine this afternoon and can now start the beast with full dash indication to boot :D :D :D

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Captcol, cleaned thoroughly with WD40 and steel wool then Valvoline Val Plex EP mainly because that was what I had at hand
Switch appears to be "as new" again. Hope this helps.

Well the saga continues, I have taken out the top bolt, undone the lower nut, removed 2 washers and still the #&@#^$% will not come off, I can pass a screw driver through under most of it with no problems but can not get it to let go of what I suspect is the selector. I am off to hunt manuals and the interwebs to find out what I have missed

Edit:

There is a lock washer and gromet that I need to remove, but with the cooler lines in the way I can't see any way of doing this ... will keep battling

Yeah mate, you're on the right path. I prised the oil cooler line out enough to remove the large lower nut and lockwasher which pass over the
selector rod. Your switch should now be free and just requires gentle prising off the rod. Mine was quite tight, alot tighter than I would of thought.
As I posted earlier mine is now AOK and as a bonus seems to start a little easier. Hope this helps.

Cheers

My partner has gone away for a week, so I have decided to leave the truck alone as it is my only transport ... last time I had to use a bit of force on something I broke the bit next to it. I have found a large screwdriver and in the mean time I have installed my reverse spotlights/worklights so no major me and anyone else nearby can see where I am backing

Is anyone aware of a youtube explaining the gearbox switch.
I have a 95 3.1 dsl MU auto transmission RMD

Intermittant starter problems, when it wont start the relay is working and stater motor works by taking a positive to the stater solenoid.
Which leaves this auto switch, the photos in this thread has me confused the last photo is pipes not wires.

the last pic is of the actual unit itself, its sitting behind that pipe . its like a triangle shaped thing. you can normally tell if the problem is the inhibitor switch as your reverse lights and beeper wont be working either esp when the car is cold.
