Pete iIwish I could help you but its got me totaly stumped, clutch should have nothing to do with what your saying, sounds like there is some sort of fluid being injected into the intake when you push on clutch, you have a hydrolic operated clutch but there is no way for the hydrolic fluid to get into your intake, unless there is a small leak in the hydrolic clutch line and its spraying into your air breather??
I live in my own little world, but its OK they know me here.

Have you checked your crankshaft endfloat?
Maybe the clutch action/forces are pushing the crankshaft enough (while cold) to affect the crankshaft sensor.
Is your sensor mounted axially or radially to the crankshaft?
It sometimes doesn't take very much movement to confuse a sensor.
I would guess that you crankshaft endfloat would be something like 0.003-0.005" (0.075 to 0.125mm). You should probably have these figures confirmed by somebody else.
Is the crank sensor easy to get to and cheap to replace (to eliminate this from the problem)?

My understanding of it is that it senses crankshaft revolutions and/or position (rotational) for the engine management system.
