Alternator going up over 18 volts

Got a feeling my alternator is gone when driving shoots up past 18 volts so is the diodes gone or a short some where.

Sounds like the regulator has gone. If you must use the vehicle i would have the lights and A/C fan on so you don't fry your battery

Thanks pig75 just bought a new one on ebay$ 345.00 delivered 70 amp i would take it to local auto sparkie but he is a rip off and dont do the job got a alarm system installed on my el fairmont of this guy and done such a bodgy job wont go back so just bought a new one and do it myself.

Hi i bought the alternator of Ebay $ 345 delivered it is made by jaylec automotive electrical 12v 70 amp number 65-3008 suits rodeo deisels the guy is still selling them on ebay i think thier ebay name is international radiators. i havent had a problem with it yet but has 12 warranty. The only thing is where the extension from the pump to the oil line the thread was diffrent than my old one so i installed a bradied flex oil line no dramas or you can bend your old oil pipe a bit to fit it.
