sorry, ment retaining spring not return spring. anyway tryed to sort out the freeplay thing and ended up packing the pedal box of the fire wall around 6mm.could of done the master cylinder but the pedal box was easyer seen i was up under there anyway. couldn't get enough with the ajustment bolt on the master. every odd but seems to work so far.

if you used after market master cylinder there are two types but both fit need to thread the rod more and cut it shorter, at least you got it sorted in the end

Thanks everyone for your help, clutch all sorted now will try and post some pics of the cross member once ive built it.till have to sort out reversing lights and remove the dash to remove any light to do with the auto.
