Transmission conversion MU 2.8 Auto to Manual

Hi all i have a 1992 2.8l turbo diesel MU with an auto in it at present, i was thinking about dropping in a Manual can anyone tell me what i am in for and how difficult it is.. also are the diff and transfer ratios the same between the auto and manuals. Any help will be appreciated..
