I still havent replaced the clutch fan stardog, i put thermos in the MU but not sure wheather to put them in the wizard. being the mrs mainly drives(& is new to driving) it & (depending on how you wire them up i guess) if they short out, if could cost me cooked engine.

Recent activity : I finally had a go at pulling the dash apart to reset the timing light, which went well thanks to pig75' contribution in the FAQ section.
I was hoping to see speedo cable but it appears this "96 auto wizard doesnt have one its all electric. when cold & lowish rpm in gear (load) there is a sqreech sound coming the front which a mechanically minded mate said could be a dry speedo cable that could use some graphite grease. Im taking it in to exhaust shop tommorow for a second opinion. maybe its a boost leak....? i dont have a intercooler.

You should be able to use a rodeo or jackaroo clutch fan on the wizard i kept my clutch fan in case i decided to go back but the thermos are working a treat so far.
The 96 on models all have electronic speedos in them if i remember right.

My 96 Mu has a speed sensor also, not a speedo cable. I think these came about with the introduction of ABS.

Roger that. Been a while but time for an update. The MU is still off the road awaiting tyres & an A/c service. I have taken the redarc solenoid/ dual battery wiring setup off the Mu and put it on the Wizard (robbed peter to pay paul :D). Bought a 60l evakool for good price on boxing day. I need to wire the 12volt acessory socket to the 2nd battery. Put the winch on. Rooftop tent can go on in the dry season (although its now feb & we have had bugger all rain). 2inch bodylift kit is siting in the garage :D. Stil havent replaced the engine fan but its on the list.

Scored a TJM steel bar for the MU the other week. It was on a late 90s rodeo, Suprised i had to cut so much off it for it to fit.
The MU has a 2inch body lift & the crash tubes on the chasis rails were touching the bar.

If you like have a look at it a bit cheaper than $500 and i haven't had a problem with mine.

Cheers stardog

Should have taken your advice stardog, the 80amp lasted about a year. so i put a 120amp alternator on a couple of weeks ago

hey I just got one of these and looking to put those same 15s of the MU, did yours stick out past the guard at all as the standard wheels are +38 offset and MU wheels are zero offset from memory, cheers

I had a set of mu mags with 31x10.5x15 Savero muds on on my Wizard at times but they extended past the Guard just enough to fail a wof. It was only about 5mm. Easy enough to do flairs though although technically that would still need cert.

thanks for the info geeves, was thinking they may 'just' fit or be close to , also didn't know the flares need cert, seems a bit extreme for such a minor mod..
did you raise your Wizard and what did you do ? I'm only looking to get it another 40mm of the ground and the back already seems to be of higher stance than the rear , would you know the standard heights on these by any chance, many thanks

I bought the Wizard with newish looking coils in the back and no knowledge of whether lifted or not but its about 950mm to the top of the arch from the ground with the original 245x70x16 tyres on. This is my road car so in the most part Ive kept it standard. I only put them on for one trip where the distance meant the more comfortable truck but a chance of one or two muddy bits. The tyres never rubbed even on full articulation.
LVVTA requirements get confusing sometimes. Flares do not need certification but fitting tyres that require flares does require cert. Ive got this problem still to sort before the next wof on my new bighorn. I might get away with different offset rims or might just keep the tyres it came on for wof day. Thats 32x11.5x15 though. Interestingly at 50 and 80kph the speedo agrees perfectly with the gps but 100 the speedo is 3kph high.

looks like I might have to find some 15s with about 10 or 15 positive offset if my measurements are near enough correct

sorry for the delay, I had no dramas with an All terrain BJG 31inch 15r

Stardog - ive been slack with the pics, the MUX is going ok ive put 6000k on it so im thinking the motor must be close to run in.
Im still trying to get the 2nd battery installed through the dealer (they tried to palm off a engel battery box ontop of 3rd row seat, wasnt happy @ all). The snorkel & towbar is on. Just starting to get in front of all the hospital bills but all is fine with Bub & the Mrs.

Ive done nothing with the Wizard in this period. still waiting for a mate to time it, then i might have annother go at the front seal leak.
Once its back on the road il have a good think at what im going to do with the MU.
If i keep the MU id have to put the back seats back in for the little one, but with all the accessorys the little has thered be bugger all room to take anything.
So im thinking about pulling the lockers out of the MU and puting them in the wizard. ive got a spare front & rear rodeo diff.
As the Mrs probally wont let the MUX go offroad.

Good to here the misses and bub are doing well.
That new mu-x looks good and the engines are so quiet for a diesel as well.
I wonder how my 94 mu would go with 1 of those new 3lt engines in it I reckon she would have some get up and go then.
But I have been looking at a few fronteras with the v6 petrol in them but very thirsty I had a work rodeo with one in it used heaps of fuel and oil if I could drop a 4jg2 or 4jb1 in it cheaply I would get 1 but to much trouble and money doing the conversion.

Been looking for a little while now there was a wizard for sale out at broken hill a while back but had a 2.8 in it I think he wanted about 4k for it they do pop up on gumtree and fleabay now and then.
I have been looking at a few surfs with the 3lt turbo engine as well I had a Hilux with the 2.4 turbo many years ago pretty gutless.
If I could fit more in the mu for short trips would be good but when I load the recovery gear fridge food supplies and fishing gear isn't much room but the good thing is being a shorty it gets in and out of some tight tracks pretty good.
