hmm, well i didn't go off the main track much, so i will have to go back to reefton and do some more exploring there.
Alternator; my 2nd alternator is actually off an old Ford, which is a Mitsubishi alternator.
My alternator had 3 wires on it; the main thick wire that goes to the battery, then two smaller wires (can't remember what the symbols on those wires were, but probably S and L). I just went out to have a look at the alternator, but there's too much stuff in the way to see the wires.
One wire goes to the battery to sense what voltage it is, and the other wire goes to the globe on the dash to excite the electromagnetic field to get the alternator started, and the large thick wire goes to the battery for charging.
