Right. Spent 3 weeks looking for a crank. Seems it's all the 3.1s being wrecked as thats all anyone has! :o
Took it back to the engine shop so see if they thought they can do something with the damaged key way.
They are going to machine in a bigger key way and machine a key to suit the bigger key way with a step to suit the pulley.
Best of all they quoted the same as a 2nd hand crank. That doesn't exist
Should have it by the weekend so will be in the shed Saturday writing up a list of gaskets and orings to order.

Picked it up today. They managed to drill the broken bolt until it was very thin, and ran a tap down the thread and that sorted it fine.
Machined the key way out to the next size up, and filed the pulley section of it to fit.

So tomorrow I'm sorting things out ready to go back together, writing a gasket list and cleaning stuff.

Decided I might as well put a 2.5" exhaust on it seeing as now is the perfect time to change the down pipe. Where do you guys get your down pipes from?

Ah, sorted the search function:
http://clubisuzu.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2863

Will order one of those and see what the local shop can do! Thinking I might have to put it all back together stock first so they know what room they have to work with though.

Scored a 3.1 oil filter/cooler set up today.
Am aiming to grab the intercooler of the same wreck as well as a MU 2.8 intake manifold so I can fit the cooler.
Have plans for water injection. Little more research needed but I think I can sort a good system for sub $200 :D
So the above, plus the 2.5" exhaust and some more PSI should wake the thing up! Not going to tweak it within an inch of it's life though, just looking to get back what the 33" tyres will suck while adding some safety margins with the water injection.

That's rather flat though :P

I'll be sure to post all about it here when I do. Will concentrate on getting it going first!
Didn't even look at it this past weekend as was crewing for a mate in a 500k off road enduro (which he won!)

GF has to work both days next weekend so no distractions!
I have bearings, I have gaskets. Taking old seals into local bearing shop tomorrow to get the crank and cam seals replaced with double lip ones as there are wear grooves in the running surface of each.
Interestingly the cam pulley hub that the seal runs on has the biggest groove by far.

damn, thats got to piss you off! I have a 93 $JB1 engine sitting on the floor in my shed that I thought was all good until I went to use it - decided to replace the waterpump since I had a new one sitting around, only to discover that the keyway on the crank had flogged out in the same fashion. Kinda annoying on an engine that hasnt even hit 150,000km yet!

Good luck with the crank - have you tried the guy on trademe from Rangiora? Think his username is horsenut or something but he seems to be rather knowledgeable and has a plethora of Isuzus and parts...

Holy crap I'm taking too long to do all this
Will get there though!

Now, the butterfly valve on the intake, what controls that? I think all mines been disconnected. Not overly keen on that

Oh on the intake? I thought it was the shut of valve. If it isn't, I'll just bin it. So they only have fuel shut off not intake shut off?
