Went to weld up the exhaust today. Bloody reg I was sold leaks like a sieve!! :evil:
Back to the shop Monday to ream someone.
Might have to just shell out and buy a C02 bottle. Had been hoping to use a disposable argoshield

Correct hose turned up today
new reg procured from suppliers
correct size exhaust parts arrived.

Bugger me, got the exhaust sorted today. Lots of birds flying around though ;) :lol:

Short list of fiddley bits and it'll be time to give it a whirl! :o

SONOVABITCH IT RUNS!!

Even drove it around the block :D

Had a mild panic when I got back.... Water leak! Dripping on drivers side. Thought my oil cooler lines weren't working :?
Looked, can't see where it's coming from.... Got underneath, running down inner guard.... Cold.... WTF?!

Oh yeah... The bonnets still off and because the screen is dirtier than a $50 hooker I squirted the washers. Of couse no bonnet no washers so it just ran down the inner guard :lol:

Will be sure to, will be a while though...

When bleeding the brakes, after explaining to the missus (who will be working the pedal) that brakes are hydraulic and you need to get the air out. And you want her to pump the pedal, hold it down until I say then release and repeat.
After all that, be clear to say BRAKE pedal.
Furious pumping and no fluid flowing.... Couple of minutes of wondering if I had a gunked up nipple, and she says "I'm meant to pump the accelerator aren't I?" :lol:
Then she tried to kick me in the head because I laughed at her too long :roll:

Warning dont bleed the clutch on a slope. If you do chock the wheels.(at the very least put the handbrake on if it works) I learnt this by experience. Nothing like lieing under the car yelling "push"let bubbles out "release" "push" "family filter" as you madly grab hold of something solid and go for a little ride
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Haven't figured out how to work a pedal and bleed at the same time! Seeing as my one person bleeder tool doesn't work :evil:

open bleed nipple pump pedal release pedal, close nipple off, done it for years on clutches and brakes, just make sure the hose goes all the way to the bottom of the bottle

One method Ive seen work very effectively is a rubber seal and air pump that fits on the reservoir.Open nipple pressurise the reservoir until good fluid comes out the bottom close nipple and as long as you do this before the reservoir runs out nothing can go wrong. Ive always used the hose in a jar but only as a 2 person system. I did try a hose with a valve in it but it was a waste of space.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Well been driving it since last Friday and so far so good.
Still lots of jobs to do on it.
Next big one is rust int he drivers b pillar. Looked minor so I poked it. Oops.
Beater wants $160+gst to fix, sweet. Side window has to come out, glass place want $120 to remove and refit. Robbers!
Would do it myself but have no where inside to do it and it's more than a weekends work for me.

Changed the gearbox and transfer oil yesterday.
I have no idea how much fluid was in the transfer but when I undid the filler bung it POURED out there :shock: It easily had a litre or more extra in there! Stunk bad too :?

Did it over the pit at work, a truck work shop. The pit also has the brake rollers on it so had to driver over those. On backing out the front got stuck in the rollers and the rears skid, when the let go it skipped sideways :shock: :shock:
When straddling a pit sideways is NOT cool! So first time using 4L to get out of that :lol:

is it manual or auto.
In an auto the only place extra fluid could come from is water getting in the breather unless it was overfilled previously which is quite hard to do by that much
On manual the above is also true but also if the seals between the gearbox and transfer go the gearbox fluid drains into the transfer. In extreme cases it overflows the transfer making a mess but also leaving no oil in the gearbox which is not good

Its manual. Was still plenty of oil in the box. So will keep an eye on it
