I had a look at this yesterday.
For anyone else with the same problem it is easiest to get to this part by removing only the glovebox, which is quite easy to get out.
I had removed quite a few other things before I realised this.
To remove the glovebox, remove plastic hinge pins from inside glovebox. Easy to do with a pair of pliers and brute force.
Glovebox then comes out with a bit of persuasion with a screwdriver.
Resistor block is then easy to get to. Held in by two philips (or possibly posi-drive) headed screws. You may need a stubby (preferably ratcheting) screwdriver.
The connector block includes the usual springy catch arrangement to remove it from the heater unit.
It would be nearly impossible to remove this item without going through the glovebox opening.
