wats wrong with electric? hydro is faster but the costs involved is it really worth it? wat brand winch ahve you got?
there are pros and cons but pto i wouldnt look at as cost will be massive. mitsi have pto winches?? electric is smaller wieghs less and less hassles compared to hydro. personally id be sticking with the electric winch.

Short of a different gearbox you are out of luck on pto. Hydraulic will run all day as long as the engine is running electric will run only a couple of minutes at a time and although it will run without the engine , at 400 amps it wont do it for very long.
Hydraulic winches start around 2000 and you still need a pump. Dont be fooled into thinking you can use the power steer pump. It does work but slower than a trifor being operated by an octogenarian.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Yes some mitsi have factory pto winches... MUD...I have a cheapy gew winch and its ok but slowwwwww
Its my second one as the reduction gears and housing are pretty soft metal and just wear out...
The Amps you talk of geeves are what i think are killing my alternators ...
Its times like this i Wish i was an engineer/metalcaster/ as i would make one... Or adapt something to do the job..
The way i want it done...Oh and i dont like spending money lol...

Keep the suggestions coming there must be MORE...Ideas out there

get a harder set of gears so they dont wear out. also you may want to get a better or even a second dedicated altinator for a second battery for your winch.

I used to have access to 250 amp alternators. Not cheap and no vacuum pump. Let me know if you want to know if I can still get them.

I know a few people with these winches. They even seem to handle 6mm 8.8 bolts as shear pins
